The ENGAGE Toolkit was developed by:
- A Steering Committee of adults with intellectual disability, family members and support providers, and interdisciplinary experts in genetics, genetic research, and decision-making
- A national survey with adults with intellectual disability on decisions in precision medicine research
- Analysis of federal regulations and state and territory laws relating to consent to research
- Best practices for disability accessibility and inclusion
- Empirical validation
